The Central Methodist Mission is located in the heart of Johannesburg. At present the Mission provides refuge to more than 3 000 refugees, mainly from Zimbabwe.
In July 2008 the Mission re-opened the Albert Street school- to provide a regular schooling environment for the increasing number of unaccompanied children seeking refuge with us.
The school currently serves over 500 learners- providing structured classes from nursery school to Cambridge A levels. More than a hundred of the learners are unaccompanied children staying in the church. Others are the children of refugees who do not have the right documentation to attend state schools or children of South African whose parents cannot afford to send them to state schools.
