About us

The Blossom trust is focused on the social, cultural and economic empowerment of marginalized groups, particularly women and children, in the Virudhunagar district. A large part of the organization is directed towards improving the quality of life of people infected with HIV/AIDS through various projects including counseling, medical checks, nutrition support, education regarding hygiene to prevent opportunistic infections, reintroducing drop out children back to school and income generation programs. It aims to reduce both social and self stigmatization through theatrical and cultural performances in the community, messages in local media, creation of ‘compassion’ womens support groups and child support groups. In addition the trust builds knowledge about prevention in the community through local media, school and community education campaigns, voluntary testing days, education and counseling for infected women during pregnancy to prevent transmission and distribution of condoms and education on safe sex practices.
