Der Nordosten Japans wurde am Freitag, den 11. März, von einem Erdbeben der Stärke 9.0 und einem daraus resultierenden Tsunami getroffen. Große Teile sind noch immer von der Wasserversorgung und Elektrizität abgeschnitten, ganze Ortschaften liegen in Trümmern.
