What’s it about
Adakavi Bank (The village bank for the poor!),The way out of poverty for Sierra Leone is a non-profit and non-governmental Social Business project of SEED Sierra Leone http://seedsierraleone.blogspot.com/ which is driven by a hope of a better world and inspired by the vision of a society where all poor people can live in justice, good health, peace and well-beginning. We believe that by our activities we can turn that hope into action and subsequently change things. As a Social Business the project aims to achieve Social and Ecological goals by economically being sustainable (as formed by Professor Muhammad Yunus from Bangladesh). Our main focused area is Microfinance.
Through our micro credit support program to empower poor people, the Adakavi Bank is currently supporting 300 war affected widows and youths (age 15-35) living below poverty line with 50 Euros per each clients to start up or enhance small scale businesses (e.g.:, cookies selling, palm oil trading etc).
As a result of our program single mothers can now feed, cloth, send their children to school and. cook good food.
In 2011 the Adakavi Bank wants to support the next batch of 100 women.
