What’s it about
SMADO is a non government organization that came into existence in 2004, on a mission of improving the quality of life of people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS through working with communities in the areas of Prevention; Care and Support and Capacity building while ensuring innovation and sustainability in the targeted communities.
SMADO believes that the quality of life of people living with HIV can be improved by:
• Providing and enabling access to Health services and other basic needs for people infected and affected with HIV and their families
• Building the capacity of people living with HIV to live a positive life
• Advocating for and supporting policy work which leads to improvements of the lives of people with HIV and their families
Our target Groups are:
- People living with and affected by HIV&AIDS
- Grandmothers infected and affected by HIV and AIDS
-Orphans and other vulnerable children.
-Youths
-Pregnant mothers
Our major Challenges include:
- Limited funds to support the increasing number orphans and those living and affected by HIV
-Numerous demands by our clients as majority of them live in absolute poverty.
-Scarcity of drugs provided by government Hospitals that sometimes,we have to buy for our clients
-Grandmothers without shelter to support orphaned and the Vulnerable children.
-Limited funds for the general project activities since currently most of our activities are locally funded.
Your Donations will:
-Livelihood skills training for our beneficiaries.
-Construct and renovate houses for HIV client,child headed households and grandmothers.
-Provide Income generating activities to the patient, orphans and caregivers/caretakers.
-Reduce stigma and discrimination among those affected and infected by HIV
-Buy Mosquito Nets for Pregnant Mothers and the Orphans.
-Treat identified diseases
-Provide Home-based Care Support
