🇬🇧 Ultracycling for donations
My name is Matias Bach. In 2012, my son was diagnosed with leukemia at just six years old. Thanks to excellent medical care and the support of the Parents' Initiative for Children with Cancer in Erlangen, he is healthy today.
To give something back, I’ve set myself a personal challenge: an ultracycling journey to raise funds and awareness for children still fighting cancer!

Every donation goes directly to the Parents' Initiative for Children with Cancer Erlangen, helping families through some of their toughest times.

Mein Name ist Matias Bach. Im Jahr 2012 erhielt mein damals sechsjähriger Sohn die Diagnose Leukämie. Dank exzellenter medizinischer Betreuung und der Unterstützung der Elterninitiative krebskranker Kinder in Erlangen ist er heute wieder gesund.

Mein Name ist Matias Bach. Im Jahr 2012 erhielt mein damals sechsjähriger Sohn die Diagnose Leukämie. Dank exzellenter medizinischer Betreuung und der Unterstützung der Elterninitiative krebskranker Kinder in Erlangen ist er heute wieder gesund.
Um etwas zurückzugeben, habe ich mir eine persönliche Herausforderung gesetzt: eine Ultracycling-Tour, mit der ich Spenden sammeln und Aufmerksamkeit für Kinder schaffen möchte, die noch immer gegen den Krebs kämpfen!
Mit jedem gefahrenen Kilometer teile ich Eindrücke von unterwegs – in Form von Fotos und Videos – um Menschen zu inspirieren und Spenden zu sammeln. Begleitet mich auf Instagram: #ultracycling_for_donation
Jede Spende geht direkt an die Elterninitiative krebskranker Kinder Erlangen und hilft Familien in einer der schwersten Zeiten ihres Lebens.

A heartfelt thank you to all donors!
After around 550 kilometers and 1,150 meters of elevation gain, I unfortunately had to end my participation in the Mittelgebirgeclassique due to weather conditions and health issues. This decision was not easy for me – but that’s part of ultracycling: learning to know and respect your limits.
What truly overwhelmed me was your support. Your donations, kind messages, and encouragement meant more to me than I can put into words. Thank you for being part of this journey – and for joining me in raising awareness for children with cancer.

Herzlichen Dank an alle Spenderinnen und Spender!
Nach rund 550 Kilometern und ca. 1.150 Höhenmetern musste ich meine Teilnahme an der Mittelgebirgeclassique leider wetterbedingt und aus gesundheitlichen Gründen abbrechen. Diese Entscheidung ist mir nicht leicht gefallen – doch so ist Ultracycling: Man lernt seine Grenzen kennen und respektieren.
Doch was mich wirklich überwältigt hat, ist eure Unterstützung. Eure Spenden, Nachrichten und euer Mitfiebern bedeuten mir mehr, als ich in Worte fassen kann. Danke, dass ihr Teil dieser Reise wart – und gemeinsam mit mir ein Zeichen für krebskranke Kinder gesetzt habt.

I find it sensational that 650 Euros have been collected for this good cause and thank you very much for your support of my ultracycling-fundraiser for children with cancer!
Unfortunately i couldn't ride to the finish and had to make the difficult decision to end my tour prematurely on day 3. To be honest, it was very difficult for me.
After days of rain and cold and long hours on the bike, my body reached its limit. The pain got too intense and i just couldn't continue safely. It's disappointing but that's also part of ultracycling: knowing when to stop.
but "after ultracycling is before ultracycling" and i'm looking forward to the next event in july with hopefully better weather!
