Nunca estás preparado para escuchar las palabras "tienes cáncer", ni a los 80, ni a los 50, ni a los 30, y mucho menos cuando eres solo un niño. Desafortunadamente, el cáncer no discrimina por edad, todos en algún momento de sus vidas pueden escuchar esas aterradoras palabras, y Kinderhilfe está ahí­ para asesorar a los niños y sus familias cuando reciben una noticia tan abrumadora.

Esta es una causa muy cercana a mí; durante los últimos 4 años he estado luchando contra el cáncer. Cuando tenía 29 años, me diagnosticaron cáncer de tiroides y he sido capaz de superar cada obstáculo en el camino gracias al increíble apoyo que he recibido de mi familia y amigos.

Lo que el cáncer me ha enseñado durante estos años es que tu cuerpo es más fuerte que lo que tu cerebro te está diciendo; me gusta el lema "lo que no te mata te hace más fuerte" y esto definitivamente me ha hecho más fuerte, más fuerte incluso para pensar que soy capaz de correr la maratón de Berlí­n con un propósito en mente: unir fuerzas con Kinderhilfe en su camino de escuchar, animar y reconfortar a los niños y sus familias en esta situación excepcional.

You are never prepared to hear the words "you have cancer", not at 80, not at 50, not at 30 and less so when you are just a kid. Unfortunately, cancer doesn’t discriminate by age, everyone at any point in their lives can hear those terrifying words and Kinderhilfe is there to advise the children and their families when they get such overwhelming news. 

This is a cause that is completely close to my heart, I myself have been fighting against cancer over the past 4 years. When I was 29 I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and I’ve been able to overcome every obstacle that has come with it thanks to the amazing support that I’ve been getting from my family and friends.

What cancer has taught me over the past years is that your body is stronger than your brain is telling you; I like the motto “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” and this has definitely made me stronger, stronger to even think that I am capable of running the Berlin marathon with a purpose in mind: to join forces with Kinderhlife in their journey of listening, encouraging, and comforting children and their families in this exceptional situation.
