Why tourniquets?
A tourniquet is a ligature system used to constrict or stop blood flow in the veins and arteries. It's an important piece of equipment for medics to save people from bleeding to death.
Every day, Ukrainian medics need to use hundreds of tourniquets. Just one casualty might need 2-4 tourniquets to stop bleeding from multiple injuries to their limbs. Tourniquets are single-use items, and good ones are expensive (usually 30-40€/piece for international models like CAT Gen7). Unfortunately, private donors often don't know the difference and order bad tourniquets from China, which are cheaper (10-20€) but unsafe - these cheap tourniquets literally cost people their lives.
For #TQ4UA, we secured a bulk price of 570UAH (about 14€/piece) for SICH tourniquets, which are NATO standard and proudly Made in Ukraine. So your donation is helping save lives and supporting Ukraine's economy too 💪
Who
The #TQ4UA crowdfund was launched by political analyst Jessica Berlin (www.jessica.berlin; Twitter @berlin_bridge). The campaign is managed by the non-profit organization Ukraine-Hilfe Berlin e.V. The delivery of tourniquets to medics in Ukraine is coordinated together with Leleka Foundation, a well-known Ukrainian foundation active since 2014, which has mobilized over $7Mn for medical aid since February 2022.

Over the past 20 months, your donations have helped equip Ukrainian combat medics with thousands of lifesaving tourniquets. Together we are over 800 donors, have raised over 107,000€ and delivered over 9,000 tourniquets via our tireless partners Leleka Foundation and Ukraine-Hilfe Berlin. Thanks to you, countless wounded soldiers have been given a second chance at life. Quite simply, you have helped save lives. You have helped these brave men and women return to their families.
But this war is still raging. And every day, medics on the front lines are forced to do more with less. The need is as great as ever. If you’re able, please donate again now. Tourniquets aren’t high-tech or headline-grabbing. But they’re essential. And right now, they’re in short supply. Dank Ihnen haben unzählige verwundete Soldaten eine zweite Chance auf Leben erhalten. Ganz einfach gesagt: Sie haben geholfen, Leben zu retten. Sie haben diesen mutigen Männern und Frauen geholfen, zu ihren Familien zurückzukehren.
Aber dieser Krieg tobt weiter. Und jeden Tag sind Sanitäter an der Front gezwungen, mit weniger mehr zu leisten. Der Bedarf ist so groß wie eh und je. Wenn Sie können, spenden Sie bitte jetzt erneut. Tourniquets sind weder Hightech noch schlagzeilenträchtig, aber unverzichtbar. Und gerade jetzt sind sie Mangelware.
