Startup community unites to raise funds!

Germany’s startup community is coming together to raise funds for the victims of the devastating earthquake that shook parts of Turkey and Syria in early February. 

Joerg Rheinboldt, Managing Director at APX, said: “The startup scene in Berlin is a unique and vibrant community that values social responsibility and making a positive impact in the world. It's inspiring to see many startups, entrepreneurs, and investors unite to support those affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. As a community with strong ties to the region, we must do our part to help those in need. I'm honored to be part of Startups Unite and will be involved in the fundraising event to contribute to this important cause.”

The natural disaster has caused immense damage to the region near Gaziantep, followed by numerous aftershocks since the first quake. Many families have lost their homes, loved ones, and livelihoods.

Rahel Demant, the initiator of the initiative, said: “As a group of startups and venture capital investors, we believe that it is our duty as a community to support those affected by this tragedy and help them get back on their feet. The official death toll has reached 50,000, and 6 million people have become homeless overnight. Our target is to raise at least €10,000, and we are confident that with the support of our community, we can achieve this goal."

All proceeds from the event will be processed and donated to the earthquake victims through betterplace.org. Official tax deduction certifications will be given out to all donors.
