What’s it about

This Christmas, I have decided what I want is to be apart of something bigger than myself. I’ve chosen to support “DONATE FOR JUSTICE – Lifeguards Face 25 Years in Prison” in an effort to boost visibility of the injustice that two life-saving heroes are facing, Sarah Mardini and Seán Binder.

If you want to see Sarah's journey as a refugee traveling from Syria to Germany, watch the movie "Swimmers" on Netflix.  As a warning, be prepared to need a tissue, as her journey is heartbreaking to watch.  You will learn at the end of this movie that there are currently 30+ million refugees in the world-- HALF of which are children.

Sarah and Seán were among 24 other search and rescuers volunteering on the island of Lesvos, Greece. They joined a Greek rescue organisation which helped thousands of asylum seekers fleeing conflict. Despite fulfilling their legal duty to help those in distress at sea they were charged with crimes like espionage and facilitating illegal entry. They spent 108 days in pre trial detention and still face 25 years behind bars. Independent legal experts have concluded that what they did was both morally and legally necessary. Human Rights Watch said their prosecution is the criminalisation of saving lives.

Humanitarianism is not a crime. It is our duty to help those in need.

Help us fight this trial. Help us Free Humanitarians.
