What’s it about
Situation
You have undoubtedly been following the devastating news of the floods in Pakistan: a third of the country, the size of the UK, is under water with a heart breaking death toll of more than 1,500 people, and 1000s injured. As sea-strength floods damage Pakistan, as a result of monsoon rainfall levels ten times higher than usual, over 3.1 million civilians have had to leave their homes with little or no belongings, and are now in severe danger. The situation in Pakistan is desperate, and with more rainfall predicted, the risk of water-borne diseases is incredibly worrying.
Why Humanity First?
Humanity First is working in Pakistan and the neighbouring countries to help the flood victims. They are responding, and providing vital humanitarian aid by working with local partners. Our donation will help provide food and water, as well as key hygiene and medical supplies. So far, Humanity First has been able to deliver food rations packs for over 11,000 people consisting of 5kg of rice, 5kg of sugar, 3kg of lentils, 5kg of oil, 20kg of flour as well as packets of salt, chilli powder, tea, dates, pickles and hygiene items such as detergent and bath soap. Each pack will serve a typical family of 6 people for 3 to 4 weeks.
