What’s it about
Hi, my name is Josie Rogers and I hope to be completing the Berlin Marathon on September 25th, 2022. While I could use this space to share about how terrified I am at the prospect of running 42km (26 miles) in just a few weeks, having trained far less than I would have liked, I think it would be far more positive to reflect on the motivations that are going to be driving me towards that finish line and invite you to be apart of this...
For almost two years I have been volunteering with Alabaster Jar, a project of Samaritan's Purse e.V., who are doing incredible work to care for and empower women working in Berlin's sex industry. Despite all my complaints at the long training runs and extreme heat over the last few months, my insight from Alabaster Jar means that I know just how privileged I am to have the health, free time and opportunity to prepare myself to run this race. The women whom Alabaster Jar connect with are some of the most resilient people I have ever met, and it will be through thinking of them, and your donations to help support them, that I will be able to take on every step of the 42km (26 miles) on September 25th.
Every donation will go to helping some of the most vulnerable women in Berlin to be cared for and encouraged by Alabaster Jar, and will be sure to put a smile back on my face even at the sweatiest, hardest parts of this race! A massive thank you from me, and from everyone t Alabaster Jar and Samaritan's Purse e.V. for your generosity!
