What’s it about
THE SEASON FOR GIVING - Act local – help global!
This year, we at HRS decided to support a good cause and donate to the EDUCATION IS KEY initiative of the Cologne Book Fair (Bücherbörse Köln e.V.), a charitable organization that aims to create sustainable educational opportunities in developing regions. Their goal is to build and maintain schools in less educated areas in order to enable all children to go to school and receive a proper, sustainable education.
Founded in 2012 and pioneering with its circular fundraising concept, it collects secondhand books from citizens of Cologne, re-purposes and sells them during a book fair, channeling 100% of the revenues into building schools.
Unfortunately, in 2020 due to the pandemic no event could be held and in 2021 it could only be held under very strict regulations. In consequence the Cologne Book Fair wasn’t able to raise enough money for this year’s project of building the Selela Primary School in Makuyuni Area of Arusha, Tanzania.
They are €15k shy and we want to help! Tobias Ragge kick-starts our HRS Cares initiative and donates 10 thousand euros, leaving just 5 thousand euros to finish the construction of the Selela Primary School. Let’s take on this challenge together!
