What’s it about

October 3rd, 2020 marks the 30 year anniversary of German unification. It's a distressing thought that just over 30 years ago, the country and it's people were in such a different position - separated and in many cases, oppressed. Today, Germany is an amazingly peaceful and equitable place but this isn't true for everyone, especially for refugees who are often arriving from war-torn countries, and who have undergone unimaginable hardships.

On October 3rd, I will be running the 160 kilometre trail where the Berlin wall once stood. I am doing this not only to challenge to myself but also to raise money for those who need it most. I have chosen the organisation Give Something Back to Berlin for their community building and social work with refugees in Berlin.

I find it fitting to run the length of the wall on this date to commemorate the collapse of an old symbol of separation and oppression, to celebrate unification, and to raise money and awareness for a more inclusive and equitable society.

Berlin has been good to me in the last 10 years and I'm hoping to give back in some small way.

Any donation is very appreciated.

Love

Ben
