What’s it about

"Why did they die? Because they didn't have blue eyes and yellow hair" (Serpil, mother of Ferhat Unvar).

On the 19th of february, exactly 7 months ago today, 9 people died in Hanau at the hands of a racist.

The Initiative 19. Februar is building a space in Hanau to honor the dead, support and counsel friends and family and everyone facing rascism as well as creating a place for communication and solidarity. They demand a thorough investigation, consequences and change.

I picked this project because while the world seems to be burning right now this happened right in front of my doorstep, because 7 months later I celebrate my birthday and I would like to honour the 9 people who can not celebrate theirs anymore with their families and friends:

Ferhat Unvar, Gökhan Gültekin, Hamza Kurtovi´c, Said Nesar Hashemi, Mercedes Kierpacz, Sedat Gürbüz, Kaloyan Velkov, Vili Viorel Păun, Fatih Saraçoğlu.

I can and will not accept that the world is as it is right now. I don't know how much I can do but I will try to change it where I live. So if you can, please help me support this donation campaign. Every little bit helps! Thank you!
