“PLAY 4 WATER”
What’s it about
Located in Yumbe District - Uganda, Bidibidi Refugee Camp is one of the biggest Refugee camps in the world since 2017. As of May 2019 access to clean drinking water was at 18 litres per person per day - this is short of the standard 20 litres per day recommended by SPHERE. Supply gaps have led to only 12 - 9 litres per day per person in some parts of the camp. Due to a lack of building materials, approximately 70% of the households in the camps have a single family latrine. While approximately 35% of schools and health care facilities lack
a sufficient number of latrines. Together we can change that!
Our objectives for this project are:
- To provide hygiene kits to the families in the settlement. These include washing soap, hand washing stations and water collection tanks.
- To provide building materials to construct latrines
- Provide Hygiene Training for members of the Water User Committees
- Conduct Trainings for WASH school clubs
