What’s it about

My name is Antoine, an intern at Mudia Foundation, a non-profit organisation based in Myanmar.

It is an orphanage school for over 250 children, who are coming mainly from small hill tribes’ villages with unprivileged conditions and some of them even lost their families.

Mudita is a monastic school providing children with a place to stay, an innovative education system, medical care and sustainability.

The school is located insight of the Htet Eain Gu Village where some of our students are living. Mudita Foundation is deeply connected to the village. The school runs an education and health program for the villagers and employ over 20 local people as builders, farmers and cooks to run the school.

The Corona Crisis has hit Myanmar hard. Fortunately, there are not too many cases but the economical impact of the government lockdown has resulted in no tourism, hotels and restaurants to close, jobs cut and small local businesses forced to shut down.

Half of Myanmar’s population lives in relatively poor conditions and 25% are living on less than a dollar a day to survive. The sudden lack of income brings many families in serious danger.

In Nyaungshwe where our project is located most of the people work in tourism related businesses as construction workers. Nearly all of the hotels and restaurants are shut down so there are no more jobs in town.

In the Htet Eain Gu Village, over 400 people are trying to survive.  60% of families have financial difficulties which puts 30 families in serious danger of starvation and malnutrition. At the moment they are collecting leaves and roots from forest trees to make food.

This fundraiser is to collect donations for 30 “food packs” which will include rice, veggies and vitamins. Each pack will last for a family for over a month and nourish up to 7 family members.

The Food Pack consist of:

  • 50 KG Cooking Oil           16 €
  • 12 KG Rice                        17 €
  • Pack Vitamin Tablets      13 €
  • 10 KG Potatoes                  7 €
  • 10 KG Salt                          7 €
  • 2 KG Soybean balls         4 €
TOTAL for 1 pack                    64€

Any donation you are able to make will make a huge difference to the lives in the  Htet Eain Gu Village. Thank you!

You can follow the Mudita Foundation on Facebook & Instagram.

*Update 20.04.2020*
First of all a BIG THANKS to all the Donors who have supported us so far.

As we are starting to share the food packs among the villagers we find out that the need is much greater than we have expected it. For that reason we raised the goal of our Fundraiser to 4000 € the need is even bigger but with 4000 € we can make a big impact. Thank you for your Help 🙏🏼
