Let Music be the Food of Love!

In den großen Häusern der großen Musik herrscht Stille. Gespenstisch wirken die leeren Stuhlreihen, die unbeleuchteten Bühnen, der fehlende Applaus. Hier sollten Emotionen geweckt werden, große Momente entstehen, Synapsen gereizt werden. 

Durch das Coronavirus stehen auch Musiker und Musikerinnen vor großen Problemen. In Zeiten des kulturellen Shutdowns wird besonders deutlich, was wir an Kunst, Kultur und Musik so schätzen, wie sie die Gesellschaft bereichern – und schmerzlich: was jetzt fehlt.

Die Krise trifft die freiberuflichen Künstler besonders hart, denn sie können nicht auftreten – und stehen vor großen, finanziellen und existenziellen Problemen. Die Deutsche Orchesterstiftung will durch einen Nothilfefonds helfen. Helfen auch Sie mit, jede Spende zählt.

Silence prevails in the big halls of big music. The empty rows of chairs, the unlit stages, and the missing applause all seem eerie. This is where emotions are supposed to be excited, where big moments are supposed to happen, where synapses are supposed to stimulated.

Musicians are also faced with big problems due to the coronavirus. In the times of this cultural shutdown, it is becoming especially clear what we so dearly appreciate about art, culture and music, and how it enriches our society – and painfully – what is now missing. 

The crisis is hitting freelance artists especially hard because they cannot perform – and are faced with massive financial and existential problems. The German Orchestra Foundation (Deutsche Orchesterstiftung) is going help with an emergency fund. Please help as well; every donation counts.
