What’s it about
Hi everyone,
Instead of buying drinks tonight (those are on me) I'd like to welcome you to pass on a little contribution to Care in Action.
A lot of you know I spent about 5 years growing up in Ukraine. What you might not know is my parents founded a charity and moved there to give a hand to neglected kids and youth. At the time it was one of the poorest countries in the world.. It struggles with high levels of corruption, political instability, and is choked by outdated, Soviet style systems.
Out of about 100,000 'orphans' in institutions, 90% are there because of abusive and negligent families. Care in Action goes to the root cause, educating and supporting both carers and children, driving legislative changes to de-institutionalise care and move towards 'Family Style Orphanages'. Ultimately they give kids a platform to navigate opportunities and lead successful lives.
You actually have something in common too - Ukraine is #4 in the world for Tech workers and software engineers :).
