What’s it about
Angrenzend an dieses Waldgebiet soll in einem groß angelegten Wiederaufforstungsprojekt neuer Dschungel entstehen. Drei Hektar neuer Lebensraum sind bereits gepflanzt. Geplant sind die Wiederaufforstung von 70.000 Hektar mit 1 Mio. Bäumen.
Das Mawas Gebiet auf Borneo soll wieder Immergrün, reichhaltig und lebendig werden. Dafür bäumen wir uns auf. Für den Regenwald. Für die Orang-Utans. Für uns. Für eine grüne Lunge dieser Erde.

Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) is an organization that is very close to my heart and needs your support.
The BOSF team is unbelievable and tireless in its work to protect the Orangutan Utan and its habitat, the rain forest.
We are all too aware that without the forest there is no future for the Orang Utans. BOSF has initiated several programs to restore and protect the forest habitat, which not only aim to restore and protect critical soils, but also to engage and encourage local communities to participate in environmentally friendly, sustainable activities.
Mawas covers over 300,000 hectares of forest in central Borneo. The area is 80% covered by tropical peat swamp forests. One of the oldest forests in the world and a gigantic carbon reservoir. Mawas is home to estimated 3000 wild orangutans, one of Borneo's largest populations.
Adjacent to this forest area, new jungles will be created in a large-scale reforestation project. Three hectares of new habitat have already been planted. The reforestation of 70,000 hectares with 1 million trees is planned.
The Mawas area on Borneo is to become evergreen again, rich and lively. That's what we're rearing ourselves for. For the rain forest. For the orangutans. For us. For a green lung of this earth.

Nachwuchs in Batikap

Das Jahr 2018 endet mit großartigen Neuigkeiten - Nachwuchs in Bukit Batikap.
Die Geburt und ersten Lebenstage des kleinen Orang-Utan-Weibchens werden durch das BOSF-Monitoring-Team überwacht. Die frischgebackene Mutter Compost kümmert sich einfühlsam um ihr Neugeborenes und beide sind wohlauf. 2015 durfte ich Compost kurz nach ihrer Auswilderung im Wald beobachten. Damals machte uns ihre Kondition etwas Sorgen. Eine Infektion mit Parasiten und die neue ungewohnte Umgebung machten ihr damals noch zu schaffen. Umso mehr freut es mich diese positive Entwicklung zu verfolgen. Das kleine Mädchen ist das zehnte in BOSF-Schutzgebieten geborene Orang-Utan-Baby in 2018. Sie sind die Nachkommen der „Neuen Wilden“, eine Generation der Hoffnung auf einen grünen Planeten und auf ein Leben in Einklang mit Mutter Erde.
Ich danke euch für eure Unterstützung und wünsche allen ein gesundes Neues Jahr. Für 2019 wünsche ich uns Liebe, Frieden, Achtsamkeit, Entschleunigung, Genügsamkeit und natürlich WALD - für Orang Utans, für uns, für alle!

A newborn in Batikap!
2018 ends with great news – a new baby in Bukit Batikap.
The mother and her newborn are closely observed by the BOSF post-release monitoring team. The new mother is feeding and taking care of her baby. Both are well and happy. In 2015 I observed Compost in the wild short after her release. At this time we were concerned about her health condition. At this time she had problems with a parasitic infection and the new environment. I am now even more excited about the good news. In 2018 this little girl is the 10th Orangutan baby born in BOSF protected areas. They are the descendants of the new wild, a generation of hope for a green planet and a life in harmony with nature.
Thanks a lot for your support and a Happy New Year! My wishes for all us in 2019 are love, peace, mindfulness, deceleration, contentment and most of all forest – for Orangutans, for us, for all!
