I am going to swim from Asia to Europe on July 23

Just in case swimming in every lido in the UK isn't enough of a challenge I have agreed to join a friend and 1098 strangers in the 2017 cross continental swim (6km across the Bosphorus). In truth I am not thinking too much about whether I will make the full distance 'cos the work is in all the training. For the first time since school I am having swimming lessons! I am totally changing my breastroke technique and that's before we even address the topic of my front crawl. When I started the training back in January I could just about do one length. As of March I can do 100m alternating with breastroke ... but it needs to be my main stroke because doing breastroke in salt water with chop and swell makes me feel like a man inept turtle. So far I am up to 4km a week but as of April I need to start in longer distances. All in all the first big physical challenge in a couple of decades. Of course in comparison to the risk that migrants in small boats in the hands of traffickers my swimming challenges are all just a 1st world issue!
