“Best of Luck Allen, great to see you are already off and "running", clambering, climbing, striding, walking and hopefully not hurting too much. We know you can do this and remain in awe.”

What’s it about
In May Allen Kerton, friend and Song Saa Ambassador, run across the hot sands of the Namib Desert, raising € 2611 for the marine conservation work of the Song Saa Foundation (the Sahara Run). Having traversed one desert, he is back to run a further three, and from now until November Allen will be seeking to raise support for the land, community and outreach (Boat of Hope) projects of the Foundation.
Allen's goal is to raise € 7500, by completing the Gobi March (19th - 25th June), the Atacama Crossing (2nd - 8th October) and the Last Desert (Antarctica (20th - 26th November) (seven day races, covering 250 km).
Allen is an experienced ultrarunner, triathlete and mountaineer, but the desert runs are the biggest endurance challenge that he has faced. And when it is over, the already completed Sahara Run and the 3 that remain - all part of the 4 Desert series - will represent a grand total of 1000 km of desert running.
Allen was first introduced to Song Saa Foundation in 2010, through working on the garden design for the award winning Song Saa Private Island. A shared passion for Cambodia and commitment to sustainable development has resulted in Allen’s continued passionate support of Song Saa Foundation’s work in Cambodia.
“The 250km challenge that I have just completed was made a lot easier knowing that in addition to the blisters and the finisher’s medal, I was helping to make a real and positive change to the environment and people of the Koh Rong Archipelago, in Cambodia. I hope that you will join me on my next three 250km desert challenges and help me to achieve my goal of raising 10,200 Euros in support of the work of the Song Saa Foundation."
The Song Saa Foundation works to promote the health and well being of the sea, land and human environments of the Koh Rong archipelago, in southern Cambodia, protecting some of the last remaining habitat of green turtles, horse shoe crabs and dugong in the lower Mekong region.
