MOST IMPORTANT: Kastrieren | Neuterings!
[engl. below] Wir sammeln für einen Ruheraum für die Katzen nach der Kastration.

Denn es werden immer mehr Kätzchen geboren, die kein Futter finden, die im Winter erfrieren, krank oder verletzt sind und um die sich niemand kümmern kann!

Darum liegen uns Kastrationen am Herzen. Warum das bislang zu kurz gekommen ist: Zum einen fehlt es an Geldern, zu anderem an Unterbringungsmöglichkeiten. Letzteres hat auch verhindert, dass wir die wenigen Kastrationen, die uns die Stadt zur Verfügung stellt, nicht in Anspruch nehmen konnten. Denn die Tiere müssen eine zeitlang nach der Behandlung unter Beobachtung sein und erhalten drei Tage nach der Kastration noch Antibiotika. Für zusätzliche Mieträume können wir nicht aufkommen.

Nun haben wir mit einem befreundetem Tierarzt gesprochen. In Gebäude der Praxis befindet sich ein separater Raum, der jedoch nicht genutzt wird. Allerdings muss dieser hergerichtet werden. Wir müssten den Boden und Fliesenspiegel herstellen, für Wäme sorgen, die Wände streichen sowie für Equipment (Toiletten usw.) sorgen. Und die Katzen sollen es auch gemütlich sein. Kurz: Es müssen auch auch ein großer Kratzbaum, ein paar Regale als Catwalk und Schlafplätze her. Ein wenig Spielzeug wäre natürlich auch schön.

Unsere Vorteile: Sobald der Raum fertig gestellt ist, dürfen wir diesen frei für die Katzen nutzen, die kastriert wurden. Wir zahlen keine weitere Miet-/bzw. Unterbringungskosten (d.h. wir zahlen künftig nur noch für die OP selbst). Zusätzlich sind die Katzen unter tierärtzlicher Beobachtung.

IT IS A MATTER OF THE HEART have them neutered!
We are collecting for a resting room for the cats after the operation where they can stay a couple of days.

Because there will be more and more kitten been born who cannot find any food, kittens that freeze to death in wintertime,kittens that are sick or hurt and who have nobody to take care of them it is very important for us to start a neutering program.

Why we couldn't do it as much as we wanted to so far? First of all the financial situation and second we don't have a place for them to stay after the procedure. That also prevented us in the past to to be able to use the city's neutering programm for at least a few cats. The reason for that is, that the cats have to stay under supervision for a while after the surgery and they have to receive antibiotics afterwards for a total of three days. We are not able to pay rent for any extra rooms to keep them and take care of them after the surgery.

But we were able to talk to a vet, who is a friend of ours. In the building his office is located in is a seperate room that is not getting used at all. Unfortunately it would have to be fixed up first. We have to fix the floor, put tiles on the walls, paint the other walls, have to get some kind of heating and some equipment (e.g. litterboxes). We would also like to have it nice and comfortable for the cats. That means we also need a large scratching pole, some shelves that can be used as catwalks and spots for the kitties to sleep on. Some toys would be great, too.

The advantage would be, that we can use this room for free for the cats as soon as it is done and ready. We would not have to pay for the cats to stay at the vet after the procedure(meaning we will only be paying for the surgery itself). And the best is, that the cats would be under supervision by the vet.

We would like to start this project as soon as possible and we are hoping so much to get it done with your help. Please help the streetcats of Istanbul!
