Alaskan Mission

Closed

What's it about?

In Port Alsworth, Alaska there is a local Bible camp that shares the gospel throughout the summer with campers from remote Alaskan villages. The Love of Christ Church in Moscow, open since the fall of the USSR, has heard of this camp and has been given an opportunity to serve and share their testimony with the campers in Alaska.

Tanalian Bible Camp is a camp for children ages 8 to 19 and has been in operation since the 1970’s. Port Alsworth is not accessible by road. Freight may come in by barge, but all other travel is by small aircraft. Campers and staff fly in for week-long, age grouped camps from the first Monday of June to the last Sunday of July. During this week, campers get a break form daily life in their Native villages and a chance to learn about Jesus Christ and His great gift He has to offer. They have fellowship with one another, play camp games, learn from the Bible in chapel, craft and do other activities.

The Love of Christ Church is an Evangelical Baptist church that was establish in ????. A Chinese American pastor came to Moscow to serve the Russian Believers and help start their church. They wanted to learn how to run a church and expand their missions to immigrants, Muslims, Orthodox churchgoers and non-believers. With the help of other partnered organizations in Moscow, Russia they were able to share a building with another church and establish their location.

A team of five from Churches Moscow would like to participate in an outreach trip to Alaska through the Love of Christ Church. At Tanalian Bible Camp (TBC) there are many positions for ministry and service. For those that can speak English there are opportunities to work with campers as a counselor or a leader, discussing Bible study topics with their own cabin of campers. They may also work with the activities director to help monitor and run games, team-building exercises, and sports. Those that can’t speak English can work in the kitchen helping prepare food, in crafts, or on a crew maintaining the camp grounds and buildings. They may also have the opportunity to teach Russian language and culture. All people on the team will be given the chance to give their testimony and how they came to know the Lord.

Because of the financial situation in Russia it is difficult to raise enough money to pay for tickets and travel expenses. If you feel God leading you to support our mission trip, please donate to our team so that they may go and serve in Alaska. Most importantly, please pray that God will give us wisdom and guidance as we make our decisions and that He will open doors for our team. Pray for mental, spiritual, and physical readiness against the trials and temptations from the evil one.
