What’s it about
“One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.” (Malala Yousafzai)
Dear friends, Our Team "Stefan, Aparna, Stephan & Daniel" are running the Marathon in Frankfurt 2014 as part of the Asha Team in order to collect donations for the Project "Concern for Humanity: Remedial classes for underprivileged children"
“Concern for Humanity” (www.concernforhumanity.org) runs learning centers for children from slums in Delhi to provide remedial classes. These children are from migrant families, whose parents have moved to the city and are working as daily wage workers or rag pickers. Most of the children were dropping out of school because they could not keep up with the other children and because of cultural difference between schools in villages and big city like Delhi.
In the learning centers, children learn basic subjects and get help with homework assignments. This is important as most of the parents have never been to school and cannot provide this support. The focus is also to make learning fun for the children, so they enjoy going to school and do not drop out.
Asha Frankfurt is contributing to half of one school year's running cost for five learning centers in South Delhi. The cost include rent, teachers salaries and maintenance. About 70 % of the children are girls (100 out of 134).
That is why we are running am 26th October in Frankfurt, please help us to reach our target. Help us to help!!!!
