“Best of luck to that young man Kathy.
Mama Sheila!”
What’s it about
Mwayoyo had polio as a child which left him physically handicapped and with a speech impediment. He grew up with his two brothers as his parents had died of AIDS and they managed to survive on the little bit of land they had. Mwayoyo worked as a herdsman for 15€ a month. Stephen, the manager of the Msulwa Youth Polytechnic discovered him one day and paid a visit to his home. There he learned that Mwayoyo was able to work a sewing maschine so Stephen told Mwayoyo to report to school. He started his training to become a tailor in July, but unfortuantely he cannot meet the school fees. This training would give Mwayoyo a new and exciting perspective in life and he could support himself, even think of starting a family.
The full 2-years' training costs 300€, the uniform 10€ and his personal sewing maschine to start up his own business would be an extra 110€.
