“Cancer claimed the lives of so many of my beloved family members. It's important that we help as much as possible to ensure others don't have to suffer the same grim fate. My solemn regards to Kiki's family and all others who had to suffer losing a loved one to this curse of mother nature.”

What’s it about

Every day, over 250 children under the age of 14 die from cancer (GLOBOCAN 2008). The death of the seven-year-old Kiki alerted many fans of the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic to this fact as the voice of Twilight Sparkle herself, Tara Strong, campaigned for her continued treatment up until June 7, 2013. That day all hope for Kiki was lost.

However, her example can serve as a wake-up call: Many of these 250 deaths every day can be averted with the proper treatment. Many of these children are merely disadvantaged through the economic situation of their parents or because they live in a country that lacks a proper health care system to save their lives.

This fundraiser is an initiative by Tara Strong to raise money for those children who need it most to prevail over the disease. Sound the wake-up call, donate!

A Fundraiser to Make the Abstract Tangible

Denis D. posted this update on November 23, 2013.

Thank you for your valuable contribution to saving the lives of children around the world who are in the same situation as Kiki was!

This fundraiser has just begun. Drawing its initiative from the case of Kiki, its potential is to bridge the gap between the concrete, emotional example and the more abstract knowledge that hundreds of children suffer the same fate every day. It is these children who we now need to focus on and who need the effective, long-term support that the South Coast Hospice Association and Cure2Children provide.

This fundraiser continues, so please continue to spread the word and feel free to donate again if you can.

Three joyful people raising hands with hearts and confetti, celebrating together.
