What’s it about
George Mathesson
May 2, 1948 - October 4, 2012
George Mathesson, lifelong resident of Boulder, transitioned from this life on October 4, 2012 at the age of 63. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sue, and daughters, Barbara and Deirdre, son-in-law Aaron, grandson Declan, sister Emily, and his best friend Max the cat. George was a self made man with a passion for music. He operated a recording studio and record label for the past 25 years, giving independent artists a voice along the Front Range. Friends who knew him best will remember that he loved his Sunday morning strolls in the meadows of Chautauqua park. In recent years, he took up painting using the park as his sole inspiration.
George also loved Africa and supporting the education of others who, in his words, “Did nothing wrong but get born in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations for "Tareto Maa - Relief Center for Children in Transmara". Tareto Maa is a community based project in rural Kenya that fights against female genital mutilation and child marriages within the Maasai community.
