For many years the women’s cooperative “Riziki” has been running a small guest house in Pwani Mchangani, a village on the east coast of Zanzibar. The guest house with its six rooms is mostly hosting workers from neighboring hotels. The income from the guest house supports around 40 women and their families.
Now the members of the cooperative have decided to add value to their guest house. They want to set up electricity, so they have light in the rooms and in order to buy a fridge. That enables them able to offer fresh fish and cold beverages. It is also necessary to renew the toilets and showers as well as refurbish the guest rooms.10% of the money in need has been collected already by the women, who also run a seaweed farm, we want to support them collecting the rest.
