AMANDLA strives for GLOBAL EQUAL OPPORTUNITY. Our mission is to tackle social inequality through the creation of safe spaces using the innovative fusion of education and the power of football.
AMANDLA's dynamic approach is founded on community participation, shared expertise, innovative thinking, on-going reflection and replication.
AMANDLA operates exclusively in high density urban and suburban low income areas and informal settlements, which struggle with the effects of alcoholism, drug abuse, diseases, crime or, unemployment. Our target beneficiaries are traumatised youth affected by destitute socioeconomic circumstances and physical or mental abuse, death and abandonment.
Cuurently, the organisation reaches out to 2,500 young people on a weekly basis.
By the end of 2016, AMANDLA aims to have provided 20,000 orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) worldwide with daily access to 10 safe hubs of holistic learning and development focusing on health, safety, education, and employability. This will be based on AMANDLA's four programme system:
- Fair Play Football: provides OVCs worldwide with access to holistic Fair Play Football programs in a safe, developmental and fun environment.
- Life-Skills: provides OVCs worldwide with psychosocial support and access to information on personal development, health, and safety through continuous mentorship and football-based activities.
- Tutoring: provides OVCs worldwide with access to weekly extra-curricular tutoring sessions by using participation in Fair Play football as an incentive
- Leadership: provides selected OVCs worldwide with access to personal coaching, accredited training, and learnership opportunities.
In 2010, AMANDLA was endorsed as a best-practise model by the United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace.
