Swisscontact is a politically and denominationally neutral organization founded in 1959 by personalities from the Swiss private business and university sectors. Our mission is to ensure that people living in the poorest countries can themselves be responsible for improving their quality of life. We want to create synergies between partners who are committed to promoting sustainable development with the objective of mitigating poverty in the world.

Millions of people in developing countries and Eastern Europe continue to live in poverty. Their opportunities are limited due to financial and social constraints. Also, the economic and political framework further limits their social and economic advancement.

With our commitment, a sustainable social, ecological and economic development is promoted in southern and eastern countries. We are furthermore committed to the objective of fighting poverty both effectively and permanently. We promote this commitment by means of advisory services, training and continuing education as well as in cooperation with selected local partners. Some 460 Swisscontact employees in 25 countries around the world are committed to sustainably helping others to help themselves.

We are involved in the following areas: vocational training, promoting small and medium-sized enterprises, promoting financial services and environmental protection.

Hello, My name is L. Lakey. I am an advocate for Calvary Trust an orphanage in southern India. They are rescuing children from the tribal area's of the Himilayan forests that are in danger of being used by the India mafia, and drug dealers. They are being rescued from drugs and prostitution. As an advocate I am asking support for them in their endeavors to rescue, house, and educate these beautiful children. Currently they have 37 children they are struggling to support, with many more waiting for a decent home. God bless. larjanlakey@msn.com

Dear Mr. Lakey, your project sounds great but I am sorry, we implement projects and do not finance others. Moreover we do not work directly with children, but with their families/parents. I wish you all the best, Bernadette
