This initiative started out as the idea to run an environment action program at Rasheed22 and the public garden nearby in fall 2012.

We prepared activities based on the Green Egypt booklet and educational program.
You can read more about Green Egypt on the fb page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Green-Egypt-education-%D9%85%D8%B5%D8%B1-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AE%D8%B6%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%A1/218943404830639 (in Arabic) and on Green World (in English) https://www.facebook.com/happygreenworld

Due to the current situation in Cairo our plans got changed more than once. What did happen until now (March 2013) is the following:

In summer 2012 we offered an online project 'a summer with (almost) zero waste' where participating children and their families were invited to share experiences and ask questions on how to reduce their 'waste footprint' https://www.facebook.com/events/185795401546779/ The project was featured in Egypt Independent newspaper. Follow the link to read the article (http://www.egyptindependent.com/news/cleaning-cairo-through-compost).

We participated in the 'bozoor balady' seedbombing campaign in fall 2012, in cooperation with several green and environmental organisations and initiatives. Check their fb page https://www.facebook.com/bozoorbalady for updates (a new campaign will happen in spring) and again, there is an article from the Egypt Independent (link).

In February 2013, a first teacher training day on how to work with the Green Egypt program was hosted at Rasheed22 (https://www.facebook.com/events/501913329855480/)

We still hope to host outdoor activities and workshops open to the public, on composting, making your own little biodigester, and whatever else may be useful to live a more sustainable life in Cairo.

Our playdates in the park with hopefully start again soon, in cooperation with nabta.

The target group for all our activities with children are primary school children (8 to 12 years old).
