Rural Development Society (RDS) being based in this city and engaged in the HIV/AIDS awareness and counseling campaign at the micro level (in Waris Pura, Faisalabad a shanty town and a considerable level of population is at the risk of HIV/ AIDS. RDS intends to expand and enhance the scope and approach of the HIV/AIDS awareness and counseling campaign but is constrained due to paucity of resources including financial and technical. The local area desperately wanted this type of intervention as it has greater scope and need. It has largest concentration of working class and rampant poverty, illiteracy and limited access to civic facilities including health and SRH. RDS finds a large number of commercial sex workers and drug addicted have no basic awareness about HIV/AIDS and other STDs. The recent rate of HIV prevalence is less than 1% among general public and less than 5 % among MSWs, FSWs and IDUs but a large portion of them have no access to HIV services including awareness, counseling and support.

The project will be for 6 Months and 8 Persons will work on this project, during this period we will Conducting base line of the project ,Locating and identifying the communities and groups of commercial sex workers and Drug Addicted and preparing their data base, Conducting qualitative research to measure the level of HIV/AIDS and STDs awareness among commercial sex workers and Drug Addicted through holding of limited FGDs (focus group discussions), Conducting community awareness sessions and awareness raising workshops with identified/ selected commercial sex workers and Drug Addicted, Provide accessible and free online counseling and referral support by establishing free help line operated by trained health practitioners. Referring the potential or STD or HIV/AIDS affected persons to the nearby public or private health facilities and their complete follow up. From this project the people will take benefit are commercial sex workers and Drug Addicted (MSWs, FSWs, IDUs and transgender) and overall youth account for the 65 % of total Population and HASP 1 study pointed out that more than 80% of the clients of MSWS and FSWs is young people at age of 18-21 years and the beneficiaries are approximately 1000 in number.
