Addressing mascuilinities in Public Transportation

Yesterday, I come across with one woman who suffer from near by man passenger in Nepal yatayat in Koteswor -Gopikrishna route. The college going lady is physically abused. She tried to gave up space for a while. Finally, she stood up from there. No one speak about this case.

Even today, people taken as stigma if someone talk about violence in public space or it is easily taken as a granted by men where as women also ignored. At a same time, women losed their confidence and psychologically affected.

Thus, need to organize sensitization programs to increase awareness on gender justice through media and men mobilization. The small amount of support can make change such as developing posters, songs and readio programs etc.

Addressing mascuilinities in Public Transportation

Everyday, more than 50 % women are the passengers of public vehicles in Kathmandu. They start to use since morning at 4 Am for selling and buying vegetables. The poor girls do not have school bus or they do not able to pay the charges of school bus. Thus, girls and women have to use public vehicles. They do not have any choices. In vehicles, there is no special seats for women and girls. More oftenly, drivers, conductors and men passengers abused physically, mentally and so on. Therefore, men should engage in this process of educating on human rights, gender.
