Ø PROJECT OBJECTIVE

1. Improve measures to prevent and control soil erosion,clean up the town.
2. To ensure efficient water management and the optimal use of the resources.
3. Improve access to safe water to community
4. To targets poverty eradication and promote economic integration.
5. Reduce vulnerability to water facilities, shocks and stresses
4. Improve household access to and management and utilization of natural resources
6. To develop the water resources and equitable ways and to ensure prosperity and
Security for its entire people.

PROJECT TARGET GROUP:
1. The Schools and Children homes.
2. The community,town

PROJECT RATIONALE:
The biggest environmental problem in Bungoma is the lack of environmental conservation information and utilization of natural resources. Most houses holds use charcoal and firewood for cooking and eventualy do not replace the trees they cut down for firewood and charcoals, this has lead to
(a) Soil erosion control
(b) Deforestation control
(c) Water and air pollution
(d) Endangering other viable living organism and natural tree which grow freely
(e) Desertification control and litter all over the town.


METHODOLOGY
1. Through selected schools in conjunction with District environmental officer together with the move against poverty organization forms environmental conservation clubs.
2. Integrate environmental conservation in schools
3. Select and assist in design and implementation of environmental related projects

PROJECT MAJOR EXPECTED OUT PUTS

-Increase membership and participation in-group activities
-Environmental friendly activities in school compound.
-People plant native trees at their own initiative
-Club members increase to 40 students from previous numbers
-90%of student reached with the project period.
-85 % of farms have water catchments to reduce the speed of water hence soil
Erosion control measures
-Teachers find it easier during geography lesions
-65% takes rain water as a result of rainwater harvesting
-70% of rural home kuni mbili jiko to cook
-45% use fireless cooker

PROJECT MAJOR PROJECT INPUTS

-Labour inputs from the community and school institutions
-Expert knowledge on environmental issues

PROJECT SUSTAINABILITY.
The move against poverty and Bungoma all group will develop skills, capacity and leadership at all levels of the project to provide ownership and quality continuum of environmental conversation to the targeted groups

Ø Provide incentive to the clubs and groups to ensure adequate number of individuals Involved in the soil erosion control activities and motivation to the best performer.
Ø Children will plant trees at home at their own will (child to child approach) to keep The environment sustainable will be the key entry point for the projects Sustainability
Ø Community contribution in planting trees providing stones and sand bags to Construct gulley to control gulley erosion to gulley prone areas –
