Sacred Sports Foundation Incorporated, is a not for profit, economically, politically and religiously independent charity. We are dedicated to turning the dreams of Caribbean youth into reality through sport. We are also committed to improving and promoting opportunities for women and girls in sport at every level.
Saint Lucia has one of the highest levels of rural and urban poverty in the Caribbean region, which has resulted in a high unemployment rate. Upwards of 34%, female unemployment exists among girls in Saint Lucia and has remained among the highest in the region. Furthermore, in Saint Lucia almost 45 percent of sexually active adolescents were engaged in first intercourse before the age of 10. The preponderance of loosely attached males within most single-parent families leads to a high level of sexual abuse of female adolescents within the home setting. It is so commonly perceived that stepfathers are acting as sexual predators on female youth that a calypso song was written on this social problem. Saint Lucia also has the highest per capita rate of type 2 diabetes in the world. 1 in 4 are now at risk . This is primarily preventable through better diet and healthier lifestyles
Sacred Sports Foundation is about reaching the disenfranchised communities in the Caribbean, often neglected due to the success of our tourism product. Our Foundation focuses on sports programmes for youth aged 7-23 in several disciplines: football, netball, volleyball, tennis, cricket, basketball,boxing, beach cricket, fast net, beach volleyball, futsall
We would like to link/collaboration with other link minded organisations to develope an exchange programme of educators and coaches etc. We have already established an aggressive programme that is actively targeting social inclusion and the health agenda through sport.
