Since 2004 we are active with our association in and for Gambia. Since 2007 we support the people in the village Buniadu in Gambia, West Africa, with a health centre and a preschool. The aim of our association since 2004 is to help needy and sick people in Africa. . All members, as well as the board of the association, work on a voluntary basis.
For the operation of the health centre and the kindergarten in Gambia we need every year about 30.000 Euro for personnel, material, medicine, maintenance and administration in Gambia.
Every day between 50 and 70 patients are treated as outpatients in our health station - most of them are children. Day-to-day treatment is mainly for infectious diseases such as malaria, worm diseases, burns and accidents of all kinds.
The health centre employs 12 local staff.
Our kindergarten (comparable to a preschool in Germany) is attended by about 107 children every school year, who are taught reading and writing, math, general studies and hygiene by three local teachers in three classes.
Due to our purely voluntary activities, only about 2% of the funds are needed for administrative and advertising costs (in Germany). Of course your donation is tax deductible and you will receive a donation receipt for your donation.
