For the last three years, Jaipur Rugs Foundation is working in most marginalized villages of Badaun District of Uttar Pradesh for improving the dignity and self-respect of women living below poverty line. The emphasis is on providing the basic education awareness coupled with skill building in carpet weaving to work on education and employment at the same time.

Overall aim of the project is to support 104 of the most disadvantaged women from 5 villages in Islamnagar Block, Badaun District, Uttar Pradesh to gain basic literacy & numeracy skills, and an understanding of health, hygiene, family life education & the environment while building their confidence so that they become more self-reliant and able to contribute to family, village & community life.

The Project will apply a mixture of structured, formal and informal learning methods to benefit the rural women. each training center would have 8 women trainees , 2 looms for carpet weaving training and a well trained Trainer. The duration of the project would be 3 months.

The Project will be supervised by the Project Leader and each of the classes will be conducted preferably by a female trainer with young educated women selected from local villages on recommendation from community leaders & local NGOs.A total staff of 10 people will be working on this project.

The beneficiary would be getting education and skill set that would enable them to get employment worth 100 dollars or more per month for a period of next 2 years.Jaipur Rugs would ensure that target beneficiaries would be tracked even after completion of education project as hand holding exercise for next 2 years. Furthermore the Foundation would try to equip these beneficiaries with improved skill set to further enhance their earning levels after two year hand holding period.

The challenges include-
o To make the beneficiaries understand about the importance of being literate and that there is no age to start learning
o Reaching them and educating about the benefits
o To find the like-minded entities who thinks the same way to serve the needy people, can feel the need of people.
o To source the huge amount of funds as there are numerous people in need.

Donations towards this program would help Jaipur rugs foundation to expand its existing efforts to new villages of the area. At the same time it would help existing beneficiaries in terms of added means of providing better livelihood opportunities. In addition it would also help in:
o To help meet the expenses
o To ensure the proposed outcome through long-term support to the beneficiaries.
