Visit at MHDDIPL in Noida near to Delhi, 12 th November 2011

from Dr. Walter und Martina Stadlmeyer

On 12 th of November we went to Delhi to the factory of MHDDIPL (mobil hospital designers and developpers India Pvt. Ltd.), the manufactorer of mobile medical units. We wanted to discuss some open points and clear details of the agreement.

It's early in the morning. Many people are just on their legs, most of them as pedestrians. Our journey leads across the Punjab, then we follow south direction. Near Karnal we meet our friend Arshdeep Singh. He is the project manager fo the mobile medical unit of our indian partner organisation. Together we go on to Delhi. He started early in the morning in Uttarkand, a neighbour state of Punjab. There in the foothills of the Himalaya life a lot of needy persons. Some charitable instituttions are engaged there but it's more like the famous drop of water on the hot stone.  He reports about support in medical field, in water supply, struggle against poverty, support of rural areas, strengthening the responsibility of each single person, civil rights and much more. To built a net of information and action plays a big role in India, this is quite obvious. The remaining journey passes like the wind. Some hours we spend with intensive exchange of experiences and views. He shares his experiences with various persons, local circumstances, face-to-face encounters with us. Within a short time a plastic picture arises in our head, illustration the situation on-scene. When you want to bring a good thing om its feet, It's quite a different thing to meet somebody who gives a first-hand report than to mereley read about it.. Sometimes the hindrances are only of bureaucratic nature, but they can seem to be insurmountable. Then it is essential that we have a wide knowledge ourselves, know somebody who can support, find ways out and do not allow to go to racks and ruins. The second impression is that there are also the solutions when we do not give up and support eachother.

Time passes very fast by this way. In the afternoon we reach at MHDDIPL. Mr. Tilak, the CEO, shows us all we might be interested in. He reports that most mobile medical units they sell to the Far East, where the vehicles have to be very tight and strong due to sandy storms. We discuss details of room layout and equipment. He shows lot of slides of his mobile medical units and answers all our questions. It was quite clear why Arshdeep Singh had chosen this manufacturer. Before our mobile clinic will take up duty our team will get a training from MHDDIPL's side. Mr. Tilak willingly shares his experience. What are the most often seen problems in the beginning and what is the solution, this information is very valuable to us.

Afterwards he leads us to the production hall whre an engineer shows us the materials. A sample of the puter shell was tortured by someone with a hammer. The tough material is stronger than steel but nevertheless suffered a hole in the end which can be easily repaired with a mat and resin. Mr Tilak mentiones that most of materials are imported from Europe. The outer shell is a sandwich construction of glass fiber reinforced plastic material and a polyurethyne foam sheet. The sheets are in a single piece for each side of the shell. By this the shell gets tight with the help of a special glue from Switzerland and can be repared easily, an important feature for rugh conditions of India's streets..

To promote a project it is important, better to say essential, to have a tight contact to the local partner, and to have proven confidence in him. Each side works on its tasks, on its home work, cooperated in a self-confident manner, can rely on the partner that the common cause lies in best hands. It is easy to say we feel like partners on same level. To see that this is a shared sight of view, reliefs the burdon on the shoulders. One impression stays: it is not merely a mobile medical unit somewhere in India. Together we work on a project for human beings, where many hands are put together to become successful.

Our aim is to inaugurate mobile clinic in February 2012.
