The “Centro Caipad” in Turrialba, Costa Rica is an inclusion center and a school with about 300 students for children and teens with mental and physical disabilities. One of the key points in the education there is to provide children with the possibility to learn everything they will need in their lives in a loving environment, customized to everyone’s individual needs.
The pupils grow their own fruits and vegetables and make their own jewelry, which they then sell, for example at their annual arts festival.
Furthermore, the organisation works to improve equality and justice as well as the medical care options for people with disabilities in Costa Rica.
As a volunteer, I will help the teachers and the other staff taking care of cooking and such tasks. And of course I will help with the organisation of the arts festival!
