I have just returned from Brazil and traveled to the Huni Kuin in the Amazon rainforest in Jordao, Acre.  Together with Sia Huni Kuin and Txana Bane I visited the piece of land to be bought and continued to have and still have detailed discussions with the owner. We now have much more clarity about the situation, as can be seen in the video:
The owner basically has two pieces of land to sell:
one with 9,900 hectares (of which about 180 hectares is farmland) and one with 6,800 hectares (of which about 160 hectares is farmland). Everything else is primary forest. He wants 300 RS / hectare. So for the larger piece of land 2,940,000 RS and for the smaller one 2,040,000 RS.
At first we have aimed to buy only the smaller piece of land.

Latest update:

It is now clear that this will not work. There are other interested parties who want to buy both parts of land, but not at the price per hectare.
Status quo of our negotiation is, that if we get the acceptance of the bid, we can make a deposit of 600.000 RS and pay the rest within a period of one year from the deposit. This is the current status of the negotiations. So we have to raise a lot of money to buy the whole piece of land. The big advantage is that with the total area of 16,400 hectares on both sides of the Rio Tarauaca and up to the indigenous reserve areas on the Rio Jordao, we can contribute to a considerable security for the endangered people and return a very large piece of rainforest to the actual owners. The areas to be reforested totals 340 hectares and are surrounded by primary forest. In addition, the development of the euro in relation to the Brazilian real is obviously very much on our side at the moment, so that we should take advantage of the opportunity.
So please spread around in your networks and make aware again what a great opportunity this piece of land represents for the Huni Kuin, the uncontacted and of course for the forest itself.
