Girls Gearing Up is incredibly grateful to have received generous donations through the Betterplace platform. This support, together with contributions from foundations and corporate partners, will be used to fund skill building workshops, our mentoring program, and other further learning opportunities that foster future female leaders as they acquire the tools and confidence they need to achieve their own potential and affect positive change in their communities.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls by 2030. It is the end of 2022, and we still have a long way to go to get there. The World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2021 found that, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic which continues to disproportionately impact girls and women, the time to close the global gender gap has increased by a generation, from 99.5 years to 135.6 years. If we want to see a gender equitable world, it is imperative that we take action now. 
That is why we are especially thankful for the generous support of donors like you, who enable us to continue building up our next generation of changemakers. As Girls Gearing Up participants begin to act as leaders in their schools, introduce solutions to local issues, and inspire other youth to get involved, they create a cascade effect of positive change in their communities. 
As Diana, a 2022 participant said: “The supportive environment that was created this past week has quite literally changed my life. I realized that I am able to change the world one step at a time, whether it is alone or in a group.”
