ENGLISHWolf Durmashkin Composition Award BACKGROUND
With the competition and a concert we would like to remember the murdered and forgotten musician Wolf Durmashkin and thus initiate a new kind of commemorative culture on the history of the dictatorship and following National Socialism.
It is also about the forgotten history of the so-called DP Orchestra (Displaced Persons - survivors of the concentration camps), which was founded after the end of the Second World War in St. Ottilien.
On May 10, 1948, four days before the founding of the State of Israel, they gave a concert in the DP Camp Landsberg am Lech.
On special request, the concert was conducted by the then 29-year-old Leonard Bernstein. PRIZE MONEY
