Environmental education in Nicaragua.

J. Baransky from Welthaus Bielefeld e.V.Write a message

I am going to participate in a program of  the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) called weltwärts, with the Welthaus Bielefeld e.V.

Therefore, I will move to Condega, Nicaragua for a year and will work for the Asociación Octupan, which supports and organizes projects in environmental education and women's rights in rural development.

Since 2008 volunteers have the possibility to travel to the global south to engage in social projects, like I do and promote the intercultural exchange for a fairer world.

I decided to take part in a project in environmental education as I think that education is the key for a more conscious discussion of environmental issues.

In the first weeks I will help to prepare workshops. Possible Workshop topics are: vegetable seedbanks, projects in the school garden, recycling, etc.

In time, my field of functions is going to grow. I will keep you updated!

To enable volunteers to engage in those programms the BMZ supports them financially, but the volunteers are also asked to establish a society for promotion. With your help the Welthaus Bielefeld can support social projects in the future and send voluntary workers in the global south to enable an intercultural exchange for a fairer world.

In case you are interested I am happy to send you information about my work in Nicaragua regularly.
