Gambia (West Africa) is the smallest country in Africa and in the ranking of the poorest and the richest countries to place 151 of 175 (2015). For education and training (school supplies and school building) used little or even no money from the Government. The parents have no money for education or basically no need for education. A vicious circle. Therefore, friends and I have decided to support directly and without additional bureaucracy on the spot. We believe: everyone has the right to education. We can achieve much with little. We support selectively 8 projects; organize everything themselves and directly and each donated penny flows 100% in the following projects:
  • Lower Basic School (Elementary School), supported since1999
  • Medina Kanuma Nursery School (Kindergarten), since 2001
  • Koba Kunda Lower Basic School (Elementary School), since 2003
  • St. Matthew's Nursery & Basic Cycle School (Kindergarten&Elementary School), since 2003
  • Gambian Technical Training Institute (Training Institute), since 2011
  • Wesley Contemporary Nursery School (Kindergarten), since 2013
  • Dental Project (Dentists on site for kids dental screening), since 2013
  • Medina Kanuma Lower Basic School (Elementary School), since 2016

Continuity for the projects, familiarity with the children, direct contact with the teachers/tutors on the spot, is the guarantor for solid and sinnige support. Transparency and clarity our highest standards. "Christian humanitarian helpers for Gambia e.V." is a registered charity and "lives" exclusive and 100% of donations, the 1:1 in the projects are incorporated. Members of us to implement projects on the ground and are several times regularly on-site to accompany the projects. Every cent is documented and can be viewed at any time.
But now to our current concern, why we have registered us here on this page: Unfortunately the toilets of the two above-mentioned elementary schools, which built partially 1964(!) and since then not once again renovated in incredibly poor condition, are partly dilapidated; I don't want to write about the hygienic condition. 3,500 girls and boys share per school 6 Outhouses.
