Women in Basooka Kwavula women self help group are generating new income sources for their children affected by HIV, families and communities. They are creating their own small businesses from the knowledge and experience of working with  NIRP. By investing in their communities, they are building a cycle of hope and transformation. They are supported with training in savings and credit market.

Some of the women groups have been supported with income generation projects such piggery and goats. The animal gifts are given to children to enable them learn more about animal keeping and understanding how children can use local resources to improve their household incomes and poverty. The parents or guardians to orphans and other vulnerable children are sometimes indirectly involved.
