Ndibwami Integrated Rescue Project is a local Christian relief, development, advocacy organization providing support and care to people having HIV and AIDS, their families and communities. The organization was initiated in 2003 and registered as community based organization at the district community development department in 2008. The founding team met informally in Kimaanya Church Compound to provide mutual psychological and social support. Cohesion among these was strengthened by the fact that they were either directly infected with HIV or implicitly affected because their very close family associates were infected. One distinguished feature about the founder members was that they voluntarily used their time and other resources to visit AIDS patients, carrying them to the hospital and sometimes providing basic material and counseling support.

NIRP Goal
Our goal is to improve the quality of life of people living with HIV and strengthen their engagement in the response to the epidemic

How does NIRP this change can happen?
NIRP believes that communities affected with HIV know best what services they need and what changes are required to transform their lives and those of their families. We believe that stigma and discrimination are among the greatest barriers to change, and that there are wider factors in society influencing the spread of HIV, such as unequal gender relations.

NIRP believes that the quality of life of people living with HIV can be improved by:
• Providing and enabling access to comprehensive services for people with HIV and their families
• Building the capacity of people living with HIV to respond to the epidemic
• Advocating for and supporting policy work which leads to improvements of the lives of people with HIV and their families

NIRP employs 12 Volunteer staff and has a team of 260 well trained community based volunteers that support our activities in the community.
