Habibi.Works UPDATE Covid-19

Hello dear supporters, 

Same as the rest of the World, also here in Greece we were affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic and Habibi.Works had to adapt their mode of operation. Due to the setting in which we have been working for over more than four years, we are used to having to act in a very flexible way and to quickly adapt to new given measures. Still, considering the situation and the medical risk we saw ourselves obliged to, until further notice, close our doors for our target group. By doing this we are responding to the official guidelines of the Greek government stating that all cultural and informal education centers are to remain closed. In order to assure absolute protection and precaution for our target group we are following these measures strictly and are waiting for further notices from the government. The Greek government reacted very quickly and the current situation in the country indicates that life will go back to normal soon. 

The onsite-Team is using the time till the doors reopen productively. With closed doors and without the target group, the team started to work on other important tasks, including maintenance work, fundraising and administrative duties.   

Nevertheless we want to keep on supporting our target group throughout these days of quarantine. The safest and best way to do this is online. We are therefore constantly working on uploading content on our social media channels. Our Women-Sports classes have transformed into awesome online workout videos accessible for our target group. Apart from that some team members are offering an informative online course on Covid-19, we have our own Habibi.bakes show and many other creative tutorials are to be found online.

What does this mean for your financial support?

Especially in the times of a global crisis, projects like Habibi.Works are in need of support and solidarity. As the entire venture is funded and carried by individual donations, by prize money and smaller grants from smaller foundations, the support through individual people remains crucial. Your support allows the team on site to take on the urgently needed works and tasks during the time of the lock-down and to prepare the next projects for the target group.
