Since April 2016 the Sea Watch 2 is on the move to provide sea rescue for refugee boats in the Mediterranean Sea. In 14 missions with more than 100 volunteers we were part of the rescue of more than 20,000 people. To continue our work in 2017, we need your support.
Aboard the Sea Watch 1, an old converted fishing cutter, we were already able to rescue people on the high seas on almost a daily basis. We proved that a private initiative can provide sea rescue. With our new ship, the Sea Watch 2, we are able to work around the clock and even in critical weather conditions. We have established a room for medical first aid and are now able to locate refugee boats more effectively with modern technology.
Our crew members have experienced the danger of the European borders at first hand. The EU accepts thousands of dead and missing people as a measure to discourage future refugees. We cannot idly stand by as thousands of people drown in the Mediterranean Sea in the desperate pursuit of a safe place. We will keep on going as long as we can. This is what we need your donation for!
In the spring of 2017 we will put out to sea from Malta. Support us with a one-time or a regular donation to help us cover the costs for Sea Watch 2 mission in the central Mediterranean Sea! With your help we can keep saving people!
