Tse Chok Ling is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery of the Gelug school to whom belongs also His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
The monastery is located on a steep mountainside in about 1.830 meters above sea level just below McLeod Ganj, or Upper Dharamsala, today’s place of residence of the Dalai Lama in the Indian State of Himachal Pradesh.
The monastery has been founded in 1979 and back then was situated up in the village. In 1984 the new monastic buildings have been constructed on a small pocket of land on the hillside deep in the woods.
These days about 50 monks are living in Tse Chok Ling, whereas 30 of them are always present. More than half of them are teenagers and children. All the rest spend many months in turns with others in the huge Sera Je Monastery in South India for their Geshe studies.
During my stay in the monastery last October I could gain inside into the situation there and I understood that what is badly needed, is a new solar system. That was the beginning of this aid project in November 2015.
The few old solar collectors were not enough for supplying electricity for the whole monastery throughout the day. Especially during the darker winter months, the electricity often broke down. Warm water supply was very difficult.
By the help of lots of kind donations we could finance 8 new solar collectors, among them also a big one for warm water and electricity supply in the monastery’s kitchen.
Except by means of additional donations we could ensure the renovation of the unsound old wooden floor and the ceiling of the temple.
The current stage of the Project is dedicated to the renovation of the monks rooms. Many rooms are still in extremly bad condition. They are humid and severly damaged by mold. The yearly monsoon of the summer season brings even more humidity. For the renovation another 2.500 Euro are needed.
Unlimited in time is our support for a medical treatment for the monks who have no health insurance. 20 Euro per month already help for medicine and treatment.
Next January one of the most important events in a Buddhist's life will take place in Bodhgaya, the Kalachakra teaching and Initiation of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. For supporting them in their travel expenses we need some new donations.
In addition to that we are planning to send warm winter blankets to the monastery. Until today they were using woolen blankets which are not really keeping the warmth.
Especially for the older monks and the little children we would like to provide more of these blankets and covers and that is why we need again support.
With your donation of only 35 Euro you can provide a high quality warm winter blanket with cosy cover for a monk in the monastery. You can also donate a smaller amount, as well for the transport of the blankets.
Please donate for this project and help us to support the monks of Tse Chok Ling monastery. The monastery gets 100 % of the donations.
